Bay Town Trolley Implements Increased Frequencies and Saturday Service
(Panama City, Fla.) - Typically the summer months not only bring a significant amount of tourists to Bay County, but also an increase in Bay Town Trolley riders. To prepare for the multitude of riders hopping on board the trolley this summer, officials have increased frequencies on beach and downtown routes and are looking forward to beginning Saturday Service June 6, 2009.
The increased frequencies have already been implemented and will stay in effect through September 30, 2009. The breakdown of the service enhancements is as follows:
- An additional trolley is being added to routes 1 and 4 during the peak hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Riders can look for the additional trolley at the top of the hour at the Marina, Lynn Haven City Hall and Gulf Coast Community College.
- A third trolley is being added to Route 7 between 1 and 8 p.m. and will result in hour and a half turnaround times on the beach. Riders can board route 7 trolleys on the half hour at the Gulf Coast Community College and Pier Park or can board at Carillon Beach on the top of the hour.
In addition, trolley officials are ecstatic to announce the start of Saturday service, June 6, 2009. Trolleys will run on two-hour loops during the trolley’s regular operating hours, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. Both the increased frequencies and Saturday Service are being funded through a 50 / 50 match from the local municipalities and a Florida Department of Transportation Service Development Grant.
“We always experience high ridership during the summer months and we truly thank the elected officials for helping us continue to grow the system to meet the demands of Bay County residents and tourist,” said Lee Bragg, Bay Town Trolley’s General Manager. “These are exciting times and we look forward to seeing more riders ‘Get Up and Go’ with us.”
