(Panama City, Fla.) - With nine days left until the general election, Bay Town Trolley and the Chautauqua Learn and Serve School are teaming up to provide travel training and assistance for voters trying to get to their perspective precincts. Although, travel training is a service offered through the trolley year-round, it’s especially useful as Bay County voters exercise their right to vote.
“Transportation is one of many barriers that often prevents people from voting,” said Cynthia McCauley, director of the Chautauqua Learn and Serve School. “Even though I truly enjoy showing all people how to use the trolley, I’m extremely passionate about helping individuals with disabilities, especially when it comes to increasing their independence and freedom.”
McCauley urges all individuals with disabilities who are capable to take advantage of early voting at one of Bay County’s three polling centers: the Bay County Election Center, Parker City Hall and the Panama City Beach City Hall, Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those voters who choose to vote on election day, November 4, 2008 can also take advantage of Bay Town Trolley’s service. More than 18 voting precincts throughout the county are readily accessible via trolley routes.
“We are expecting a high ridership and a high call volume on election day,” said Beth Coulliette, Bay Town Trolley’s executive director. “Our excellent trolley staff is prepared to direct and help riders get to their perspective precincts in any way possible and Cynthia and the Chautauqua School do a fabulous job at training riders.”
Below is an abbreviated list of precincts and the corresponding route that voters can take to get there.
