(Panama City, Fla.) - Bay Town Trolley representatives are pleased to announce the winner of its first Clean Air Month Art Contest conducted at Holy Nativity Episcopal School. Rachel Perry, an eighth-grade student at Holy Nativity won for her portrayal of the trolley's impact in her life. As the contest winner, Rachel's artwork will be posted in all the trolleys and it will appear in Bay Town Trolley's biannual newsletter.

The contest began in early May to celebrate Clean Air Month and was administered in the 6th-8th grade classrooms at Holy Nativity. A local "celebrity" judging panel, including Mayor Scott Clemons, News Herald Editor Ryan Burr and Bay Town Trolley's Executive Director Beth Coulliette, reviewed the entries. Overall, a first, second and third place winner were chosen. Community residents were also invited to participate on May 24, 2008 at the Panama City Mall where all the artwork was displayed for public viewing.

"The competition was good in that it helped students become aware of all the places that they could go on the trolley. It's a viable means of transportation, especially for those who do not have a car," said Jane Perry, Holy Nativity's art teacher. "I hope that we can do something similar to this in the future because the students like knowing that thy have an impact on the trolley and the community."

Rachel will also win Bay Town Trolley's new Student Summer Pass. This pass allows students who attend Bay County schools to ride unlimited on the trolley from June 1 through August 31, 2008. Costing just $30, the pass is a definite solution to any and all transit problems for students ages 18 and under.

"With mom or dad at work and rising gas prices, the Summer Pass is an opportunity for students to get out of the house and go," said Beth Coulliette, Bay Town Trolley's executive director. "This pass affords students the opportunity for unlimited summer trips, whether it's to go shopping, to the beach or to a movie."
