Going beyond the end of the line? When the trolley reaches the end of the route and turns around to start the route in the opposite direction, it has reached the end of the line – and your fare. Half Fare
What is The Half Fare Program?
The Federal Government requires that a reduced fare policy be in effect for senior citizens and persons with disabilities during off-peak hours. However, the Bay Town Trolley offers the half-fare during all hours of operations. The Half Fare policy only applies to the one-way fare. All passes are already discounted and those discounts apply to all.
Who Qualifies for Half Fare?
FTA regulations state the policy must “at a minimum, include all persons 65 years of age or over.” At Baytown Trolley, seniors, the disabled, and students with proof of eligiability qualify for the half-fare programExamples of proof of eligibility include a driver’s license, Medicare card, special identification card (e.g. VA card), ADA eligibility card, Easy Access ID, Student ID, etc. There is no specific prohibition against asking the passenger for another form of picture identification as proof of eligibility.
What is the Cost to Ride for Half Fare?
The fare to ride the bus is $1.50, so the half fare would be $.75 for elderly persons, persons with disabilities, and Medicare cardholders. Note: The half fare does not apply to the monthly or day-pass program.
